About Us

Who We Are

We are an environmental and sustainability initiative in the District that shares resources to divert waste from the landfill through reduced consumption, transitioning from single-use disposable items to reusable alternatives, reducing food waste, increasing composting, and fostering broader participation in the secondhand market. We believe that every small change helps and that everyone can make an impact.

What We Do

We highlight helpful resources and local businesses, offer zero waste consulting and workshops for individuals and businesses, and work to build a supportive, inclusive community that encourages residents of and visitors to D.C. to transition to zero waste. Our Story

Package Free DC was founded in 2018 by Lien De Brouckere, with invaluable support from Cathy Plume and Amy Kelley, who all recognize the need for accessible and centralized resources for living a low-waste lifestyle in the District. We’re always looking for more volunteers to join us!
